In addition to contributing to the community by creating content, we are serious cognitive science social psychology nerds as well.  We are on a mission to learn why people love the games they do, and our research projects include learning more about our community in an effort to help everyone find some joy in analog gaming.

Here are some of our recent projects:

Board Game Personalities

  • Can we predict what games someone will enjoy based on MBTI?
  • What are the typical Board Gamer personality traits?
  • What are people drawn to when selecting a game?
  • How does gender affect board gaming preferences?

To get a pulse on these questions, we launched a survey in the fall of 2017.

We used the MBTI framework from researchers at 16personalities.com, which groups similar personality types into larger groups.

Check out our findings here, and take the personality assessment at 16personalities.com to learn a bit more about yourself!

Stay tuned for more information about our next project.  We will be diving a bit deeper into some of the correlations we found, and continue working toward identifying a non-gaming related predictor, that will help non-gamers figure out what they may be into.
